Dear Chia-Hui,

Thanks a lot for the help. Ms. Chang will forward photos to you if she gets later. She just called me and said that she already sent Chau-Feng Wu's photos to you through email and express mail. 

What format will you use for the Slide Show? How about PowerPoint? I am a computer idiot. What's the different between VCD and CD. Can the photos be recorded into a VCD and be viewed with a computer or a DVD player? If a computer just has a CD player but does not have a DVD player, can the computer be able to see a VCD?

Thanks a lot for the help. Yes, just print it on A4 papers. Initially you may just need to print out one copy for update during the registration on the reunion day (11/02/2002). Then the updated version will be keyed in followed by printing out for distributing to everyone. The latter part of job will be done during the reunion days. If Sharon cannot help then (printing out on a computer and maybe Xeroxing), we will need to do the print job somewhere else.

If the print effect of the HTML format is not ideal (such as big spacing and too many pages), we may need to copy the directory to a Word document and do some editing tasks (such as adjustments of margins and word size, single spacing and no space in between lines) to make it look good. I can do the editing job and email it to you several days before the reunion, or you can do it by yourself. You may also need to copy the edited Word document in a floppy disk and bring it over to the reunion so that it can be updated and printed right away.

PS: Attached please find the directory in a Word document. It still needs to be updated whenever there is new info coming in before the reunion day. Please check the web site and update it whenever needed.

The above email was written at 7:19 PM. Thanks for calling tonight. If you use PhotoImpact, the computer for viewing may need to have the PhotoImpact software installed to view pictures. I wonder if it's a common software installed in most computers. We may need to check the compatibility of the software first. I am not sure, I am a computer idiot.

Ms Chang in the Alumni Association might misunderstand what I told her regarding making of the Slide Show as she sent me an email today and told me that the job had been done. It was apparently incorrect as most of us have not sent her photos yet. Anyhow, if she is unable to do what we expected, we may need to find a substitute. You mentioned that your department had the needed computer accessories. You may be an ideal candidate to take over the job if she is unavailable. Please see if you can find a part-time student to do it just in case needed. In that case we need to ask her to forward photos to you and to ask those who have not sent out photos send photos to your address (which one, school or home?). We need to do this quickly. I will call her tomorrow.

Presenting twelve photos is not a limit for everyone in the Slide Show. It's just a consideration that scanning and editing too many photos may be a time consuming task. If you have more photos or slides to present, please just feel free to present them whenever time is allowed. Please just prepare those beyond the 12 photos by yourself. If you have slides, just directly use the slide projector to show them. As a matter of fact, it may be a good idea that some classmates prepare more than 12 photos, as I believe some classmates may just not send any photo for the Slide Show at all. I remember you like to take pictures. I believe you have many pictures for showing. The photos can be anything (such as photos taken in the US) and can be parts of the entertainment during the Slide Show.

By the way, we still need some ones to take pictures during the reunion. Would you be interested in doing this? If one of our classmates has a digital camera, we may use a digital camera, then no scanning of photos is needed. Scanning of photos is a tedious job. It may be a better idea to include the reunion photos in the CD that we plan to give everyone. In this case, recording photos into CD may not have to be done before the reunion. The CD may be sent to every one after reunion photos are included. The CD may also include whole materials in the reunion web site as a memory.
